My children and I have moved from Enoch to Noah in our Bible lessons. There are SO MANY lessons to be learned from studying the life of Noah. The Bible says, "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD." (Genesis 6:4-8) Do you think when God looks at our country He sees the same things going on that He saw in Noah's day? Do you think He is sorry that He made us? I personally do not think ANY of us are worthy of the grace and mercy of God, yet He floods us with grace and mercy on a daily basis!
Noah must have been trusting in the Lord God of Heaven to find grace in the eyes of the LORD. He must have been a faithful witness. He must have been walking daily with the LORD and teaching His family about God.
Like I said there are many things that can be gleaned from studying Noah's life. Verse twenty-two tells us, "Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he." (It also says this in Genesis 7:5) Can you imagine doing ALL that God commands you to do? That is a goal worth striving for! I hope you want to obey the Lord and please Him with your life.
Have you ever seen a guy standing on a street corner holding a Scripture sign? I saw one the other day. People just drive on by and pretend they do not see the guy. Christians criticize him and say, "that's so pointless! He's wasting his time! He's doing no good!" The Bible tells us that Noah was "a preacher of righteousness" (II Peter 2:5). Do you think his preaching did any good? ONLY his family was saved from the Judgment. Here's something to remember when you do not see the results that you feel you should see....GOD HONORS OBEDIENCE. You never know who you will reach with a word, or with a deed, or with a Gospel tract, or with a Scripture sign. You may not know until you reach the Heavenly Throne. Before you judge that man, ask yourself what you are doing for the King. Our job is not to do the saving, but to do the preaching! Preach means to proclaim. Anyone can proclaim the Gospel! You do not have to be a man or be "called of God". The Word of God tells us ALL, " Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15) Never think you are wasting your time when you are working for Jesus!
